The Avengers may have been the coolest thing ever broadcast on television and a lot of that had to do with Patrick Macnee’s unflappably suave superspy. But, there were also some pretty hip cars like Mrs. Peel’s Messerschmitt, and blue Lotus. Emma’s replacement, Tara King, got an AC 428, not a great car, but it was a looker and it’s certainly rare.
Steed preferred his ‘25 Bentley, but I think we only saw it once or twice. In the 70’s New Avengers , he got this sweet Broadspeed Jag.
Post Avengers Macnee often found him around interesting cars. He hawked Vauxhalls, and pretended to be Bond’s chauffeur in A View to a Kill. I think they cast him to distract from how ancient Roger Moore was at that point.
Rest in peace to the guy who made bowlers and umbrellas cool.

You are right - A View to a Kill was awful. Then again - On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is a better movie than many give it credit for, and Diana Rigg was the best thing in it.

Actually, while A View to a Kill is not a great movie, I do think it’s a little underrated. There are still some good stunts and decent action, and Walken is entertaining. The plot is absurd, but that’s true of, well, most of those movies. It’s just that Roger is definitely too long in the tooth.
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service has always been my favorite one. Diana Rigg is awesome and that ending is one of the biggest gut punches in movie history as far as I’m concerned.

Grace Jones was believable in all of her action sequences. Roger Moore was 57 when filming wrapped. And Roger Ebert dubunked the entire movie when he pointed out that the villain (Walken) was killing his customers, not his competitors. Not a mistake a Bond villain would make.

The Duran Duran song isn’t bad.

Patrick MacNee was another of those real British badasses, like Christopher Lee and David Niven
He served on Motor Torpedo Boats during WWII, which was not on anyone’s list of how to grow old gracefully. He started as an Ordinary Seaman and finished as a Lieutenant.

RIP indeed. So many awesome cars in that show . Awesome theory about Moore/McNee, you could be right!

Yeah, terrific car-watching show. I could have gone on and on. Even an Amphicar, which actually seems pretty appropriate.
Patrick definitely deserved to appear in a Bond film, but all the time he spends with Roger Moore in that movie has always made me believe that’s why they used him. And he wasn’t really much older than Moore, but he seemed older.

That Elan was my favorite car of the show. As was Mrs. Peel. But talking about Magnum P.I. earlier on: Patrick was in one of the episodes as well!

A sexy car with an even sexier lady.
That’s right! That was a good episode. I’ll have to queue it up in tribute.

I still have to install my NAS, I think I’ve got like all the 8 seasons stored on that. But as the weather is awesome now it will have to wait till Autumn probably.

Wasn’t Honor Blackman in the show as well?

She was indeed for the first two seasons. I couldn’t find any pictures of her MGA besides this one.
